Start sleeping better.

Meet Dr. Funke Afolabi-Brown

You deserve a physician who actually listens and enough time to be heard.

If you have spent years being told your fatigue is just stress, your insomnia is just anxiety, or your exhaustion is just part of being a busy woman — you are in the right place. Dr. Funke Afolabi-Brown built The Restful Sleep Place because she knew the traditional medical system was not giving patients what they actually needed. She trained at one of the country's most prestigious academic medical centers and created a practice where you are seen as a whole person, where your sleep is taken seriously, and where the care does not end when the appointment does.

Why She Left Traditional Medicine to Build Something Better

After over a decade of practice, Dr. Brown left the traditional model of care on purpose.

"I realized that practicing sleep medicine in silos was never going to give my patients the holistic care they needed. I could see the problem clearly: the perimenopausal woman whose sleep was falling apart, the child whose behavioral issues were actually a sleep disorder, the adult who had been on sleep medications for thirty years with nobody asking why,  but the system gave me fifteen minutes and a prescription pad. That wasn't good enough for me, and it wasn't good enough for them."

She wanted a practice built around family-centered values, where families could have their sleep issues addressed with the same seriousness as every other aspect of their health. Where she could spend real time with patients. Where she could see people quickly, within one to two weeks, not six to twelve months, and where the care continued until the patient actually got better, not just until the insurance ran out.

So she built it.

She Has Lived What You Are Going Through

Dr. Brown is not just a sleep physician. She is someone who has struggled with sleep herself.

The demands of being both a physician and a mother meant that falling asleep and staying asleep became genuinely hard. She would wake in the night with palpitations and anxiety, her mind already running through everything she had to carry. The exhaustion was affecting her ability to show up for her children. It was affecting her ability to show up for her patients. It was affecting everything.

She used the same tools she now teaches her patients,  including cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia; and it changed her life. Not a supplement, not a sleep hack, not a new pillow. A structured, evidence-based approach that addressed the root cause of what was keeping her awake.

"Now I am on a mission to help other people who are struggling with sleep feel better;  to feel heard, to feel seen, to feel like their complaints and their uniqueness are actually being taken into account. Because I know what it feels like when they are not."

This is not a physician who will nod politely and hand you a prescription. This is a physician who understands what is at stake when you cannot sleep,  and who will stay with you until things change.
