What Is Our Private Practice Model?

Our private practice operates on a membership-based structure that supports comprehensive, long-term sleep care. This model removes common barriers such as long wait times, brief visits, and limited communication.

Sleep disorders are complex and deeply personal. Traditional healthcare systems often limit appointment length and provider access, making it difficult to address the root causes of sleep problems. Our model gives us the time, flexibility, and continuity needed to achieve meaningful, lasting results.

All Patient Testimonials
  • We were so fortunate to have Dr Afolabi-Brown speak at the 21 Day Christian Woman’s Health Challenge and Transformation. Dr. Afolabi-Brown helped us understand the fundamentals of sleep and the importance of creating a sleep enhancing bedroom. Her instructions for fashioning a better sleep environment are reasonable and easily implemented. I learned so much from her tips on how to increase melatonin levels, the body’s natural sleep inducing hormone. If you are looking for a physician expert in sleep medicine to help you or a family member, look no further.

    — P Hamilton-Stubbs, BSN, M.D., CNS

  • “Dr. Brown is amazing to work with! She is an excellent speaker and really taught our students in a way that was easy to understand but full of evidence-based information! She went above and beyond—we can’t wait to work with her again!”

    — ASHLEY OLSON, HEAVEN SENT SLEEP

  • “When I’m tired, it’s often difficult to choose between what’s best and what’s easiest for my life. Easiest gets the upper hand. So, if I really want to make something out of this life God has given me - and I do - I need to learn how to utilize the rhythms of hard work and rest. When I’m not rested, I don’t have the emotional, physical, and mental strength to be present & say “yes! I’m going to do what’s best for my life, not what’s easiest.” I thought of you after I wrote this - another plug for the work you’re doing with Restful Sleep and how important it is to living our best life.”

    — BUSY MOM OF TWO

  • "After working my way through the Sleep in Teens Course, I have a better and more in depth understanding of things such as technology use and the lack of sleep pressure that affects my sleep and overall health. There was a lot of information about bad sleep habits and useful tips for better sleep that I had no knowledge about prior to taking the course. I will definitely be implementing the information I've learned and the Restful Sleep diary into my daily routine!"

    — DAWN

  • Sleep never had been an issue for me until I became a mother. My first child was calm, regimented and had his inbuilt fixed snooze alarm time, which helped me focus on other chores, but he was an early riser. Then comes along my second child, who is full of zest and life tries to keep up with her, even in her sleep (smile!). A late nighter and an early riser with a twice wake up buzzer in between the time she shots her eyes to her final waking up. Now that actually made me climb up the roof 'clawed', frequently At my wits ends along came Dr Brown, who calmly listened, teased out some faults, encouraged and helped me set some plans/goals to help her with a routine and sleep hygiene that would help readjust her activities for the day and sleep. She emphasized on the ," *not going to be easy times* , *don't be too hard on yourself if it fails with the back to the drawing board attitude* ", and *the need to be willing and determined for a change on my part.* Dr Brown guaranteed, I would see a difference and she was absolutely right. I am indeed grateful for her counsel.

  • Sustainable, good quality sleep.

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve completed sleep coaching with Funke Afolabi-brown Restful Sleep MD. Through her coaching, I was not only able get good quality sleep, but kept it sustainable. Now I am feeling more productive than ever.

After 7 years of my kids crawling into my bed every night, turning and kicking me, my daughter is finally sleep-trained!!! She no longer disrupts my sleep. Dr Funke guided me on how to sleep train my daughter.

So, if you are a woman looking to use the power of good quality sleep to increase your productivity, Dr Funke is the one to help you!

    • Dr. Jia (Physician, Mom of 2)

  • My husband and I felt like we were in survival mode. One day was blurring into the next, and we were constantly exhausted. Working with Dr Funke, we were able to recognize sleep disturbances for our boys we hadn't even thought of, and interruptions that we had been contributing to. We now have a solid routine as a family and are getting the boys down for a solid 10-11 hours every night! We also recognized that we needed to adjust our own bedtime routine and this has also helped immensely. Thank you Dr Funke!

    • Dr. Sueldo (Mom of 2)

  • “We met with Dr. Brown about our 5 year old daughter and her bedtime issues. Dr. Brown was very thorough and helpful. We are excited to implement her suggestions and are looking forward to our follow up.” - Geoff Ednie

  • "We just began the journey with Dr. Brown. We truly feel we made the right decision! Our daughter who struggles with sleep, even told Dr. Brown, how much she likes her! Our autistic teen, felt seen, felt understood, and so far is trying to follow her goals that were set with the first appt. Looking forward to seeing how Dr. Brown helps our daughter. She truly is incredible with her knowledge, and expertise. If you are thinking of reaching out to Dr. Brown, don’t wait. :)" - Sherri E

  • "Dr. Brown was able to help me resolve breathing issues! She was able to treat me right away, and I was very patient, professional, and knowledgeable. I have been able to sleep so much better since she’s treated me. I would highly recommend her to anyone!" - Pablo Vasquez

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • A concierge sleep practice means you receive direct, personalized access to your care team. Instead of navigating long wait times or office staff, you can contact us directly via secure text or email and receive a response within 24 hours. This model allows for deeper relationships, faster support, and truly individualized care for you and your family.

  • This model allows us to practice medicine in a way that aligns with our values. By limiting the number of patients we see, we can spend as much time as needed supporting your sleep journey. This includes care coordination with your primary care physician, therapists, school teams, or other specialists. We currently see patients via telemedicine and also offer in-person visits in Pennsylvania.

  • Your first visit is a comprehensive sleep clarity consultation. During this appointment, we take an in-depth look at you or your child’s sleep concerns, medical history, lifestyle, and environment. We review sleep habits, nutrition, metabolic and genetic factors, prior testing, and medical records. An integrative, sleep-focused physical exam and specialized testing may be recommended.

The goal is to identify root causes and develop a personalized treatment plan that may include behavioral strategies, lifestyle changes, nutritional guidance, and, when appropriate, medication or other medical therapies. Both in-person and telemedicine visits are available.

  • After your sleep clarity consultation, we review findings together and determine whether ongoing care is needed. If so, we recommend the most appropriate sleep program based on your goals and clinical needs. Members then receive continuous follow-up, monitoring, education, and direct access to our team to support long-term progress.

  • Our insomnia treatment program consists of six structured sessions over approximately six to eight weeks. The program includes a comprehensive sleep assessment, personalized sleep strategy development, cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia techniques, relaxation and stress management skills, sleep hygiene education, and medication management when needed.

You will also receive progress tracking, supportive materials, coaching, direct access to our team via text and email, and complimentary access to our sleep tracking platform to monitor progress and optimize your sleep schedule.

  • Yes, we prescribe sleep medications when clinically appropriate. However, our goal is to help you achieve restorative sleep with the least reliance on medication whenever possible. We focus on holistic, evidence-based solutions and may incorporate behavioral strategies, lifestyle changes, and supplements as part of your care plan.

  • Sleep supplements are not always necessary, but when appropriate, recommendations are highly individualized. As a concierge member, you receive discounts on professionally selected supplements. We carefully choose high-quality suppliers to ensure purity, potency, and safety, often at a lower cost than over-the-counter options.

  • We care for patients from infancy through adulthood. Dr. Brown has specialized expertise in pediatric sleep medicine and is one of the few physicians with advanced training in treating sleep disorders in children while also caring for adults and families.

  • Due to the highly personalized nature of our care, we are out of network with most insurance plans. This allows us to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care without third-party restrictions or limitations.

We are happy to provide a superbill for your initial consultation so you may submit it to your insurance company for potential reimbursement based on your out-of-network benefits. Please note that coverage and reimbursement amounts vary by plan, and we cannot guarantee reimbursement.

Many patients are also able to use HSA or FSA funds for eligible services; however, eligibility depends on your specific plan and administrator. We recommend confirming coverage directly with your insurance provider or benefits administrator in advance.

Insurance typically covers diagnostic testing such as sleep studies, blood work, and prescribed medications when applicable.

  • The new patient sleep clarity consultation is $500, and follow-up visits are $375. A bundled option that includes the initial consultation and one follow-up visit is available for $800. After your initial evaluation, we will recommend the most appropriate sleep program based on your needs.

  • We see patients four days per week and currently serve individuals and families in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and California. Both in-person and telemedicine appointments are available. Concierge members are typically seen by the next business day whenever possible.

  • Yes. Care coordination is a core part of our practice. We regularly collaborate with therapists, physicians, school teams, IEP teams, and other professionals involved in your child’s care. Our goal is to ensure everyone is aligned and working together to support your child’s sleep and overall well-being. Please bring relevant contact information to your visit so we can coordinate effectively.
